Wind and Rain!!

We set out on bank holiday Monday for a short test sail over to Bembridge, one of our favourite places on the Island. Very lettle wind so a good motor sail to test all the systems out. The new plotter and especially the AIS works great, we we able to follow ships up and down the Solent and in the Channel. In the afternoon we visited the Bembridge fete and had a walk along the coastal path in the sunshine.

The next day dawned with rain followed by wind. We had a brisk beat in 30kt gusts up to Port Solent to meet up with our daughter and grandson for a late lunch in the wind. We stayed the night to be woken by more wing and rain. As we have to go up to London for a few days we decided to leave the boat there probably till Saturday when we will re-fuel and move down to Royal Clarence ready for the jump off to France over the weekend

Back in the water

Katlen went back in the water on the 20th May 2009.  We  put her back into Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport and after getting the sails back on we decided to go for a short sail around the habour as the weather was pleasant.  Pleased to say that all was well with the rigging and sails and with a lovely clean bottom sped along at a good 5 - 6 knots.

We're pleased to report that the new fridge unit is working well, or perhaps I should say too well as the milk froze! Of course not all the jobs that needed doing have been completed but hope to get a few more done by the end of next week, as we are hoping to leave over the following weekend (30th May) for Le Harve in France and begin the trip to Paris.
